The village of La Grange was founded in 1879 and remains a very popular destination due to its outstanding proximity to the city and major expressways. A very family oriented, neighborly town. Impromptu block parties are not uncommon.
La Grange's high school, Lyons Township High School, is divided into a North campus for juniors and seniors and a South campus for freshman and sophomores.
La Grange proudly boasts one of the best downtowns in the western suburbs. With great dining and shopping, La Grange residents often find no need to leave the village. This is one of the few suburban downtowns with energy and activity during both the daytime and nighttime. Downtown La Grange also remains one a small number of towns with a neighborhood movie theater.
Commuters can catch the Burlington Northern train line at two different stations across La Grange, and reach Union Station in 18 minutes express or 30 minutes on the local. La Grange is also very conveniently located between O'hare Airport and Midway Airport, and also the expressways I-294, I-290, I-55, and I-88.
